The Introduction

I have planned on starting a blog for months and figured the last five weeks of my college career would be the perfect time to start one. Okay, so maybe that last sentence is laced with sarcasm, but truthfully, I wish I would have gotten this blog going a long time ago.

Being a soon-to-be college grad, I have tried to complete most of the typical preparations for my “post college life.” But as the last year progressed and my experience and knowledge expanded, I began to notice two interesting trends.

1. Most of the people targeting soon-to-be (and recent graduates) about how to get a job, were well established in their career and their content was from an established professionals perspective. They had not been in our shoes in well over a decade and last I checked, A LOT has changed in the last decade.

2. The other trend I noticed started to drive me nuts. Most people feed into the misguided mindset that “after college you get a job,” as if there was a law that you couldn’t get a job until after you graduated. If that is your mindset, you are only setting yourself up for failure. If you do things right, you should have a job in your career field lined up before you walk across that stage.

Whether still in college or a recent graduate, this blog is to help you learn what you can do to separate yourself from your peers.

I am looking forward to the journey and conversation with all of you.
