One of the biggest mental blocks I have had getting back into running is my weight. Am I severely overweight? No. Luckily I carry my weight somewhat well. However, I am about 20 pounds heavier than I want to be and have been searching for the right diet to help get the weight (and gut) that beer, large portions of delicious Texas grub and a happy relationship have bestowed upon me.

After doing some research and talking to several people about different diets that they have tried, I put together a diet that works for me, is realistic and so far, works. Basically, I decided on a high-protein, low-calorie, minimal supplements (once a day) and a dose of cardio. My fiancée and I started this diet five days ago and so far I have lost four pounds and she has lost five.

Recently, I have been working towards getting back into running. I bought new shoes, got the Nike+ wristband, a gym membership and all the other usual things people do to hype themselves up[ for getting back to fitness.

I started running a few miles at a time, although inconsistently, and have had a hard time focusing on getting back into shape. Let’s face it, it’s easier to sit at home and catch up on all the shows recorded on my U-Verse DVR than it is to go run a few miles.

Trying to get back into shape is, well, a pain in the ass. (more…)

As news of Brian Dunn stepping down as CEO of Best Buy spreads across the Interwebs, many people are asking, “What is next for Best Buy?” Is Best Buy on the same crash course that sank Circuit City in 2009?

Maybe.

I am sure anyone who has been in a Best Buy lately has noticed that the computer section looks much different that it did just two years ago. The desktop section is as easy to miss as the alarm clock section and the laptop selection is about as underwhelming as Lamar Odom’s performance with the Dallas Maverick’s. However, the tablets are spreading like the weeds in my front yard and their phone sales are so impressive that Best Buy has “Best Buy Mobile” stores popping up in malls. (more…)
